At the beginning of the 90’s I started doing one to one video work with people with long term physical and mental health problems. I developed the idea of a video self-portrait to give people with HIV/AIDS the opportunity to leave a video legacy for family and friends. This was part of an innovative Arts project run by Waverley Care  the HIV/Aids Hospice in Edinburgh

People with HIV in Hospice Arts Programme

The aim was  to build a creative collaborative relationship so that people were encouraged to express and develop themselves through the medium of video work.

I went on to work in the same way with people with mental health problems through Artlink and then went on to use the same principles to work with people with dementia.
